Habits: the things you do everyday
Magic(according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary): “an extraordinary power of influence seemingly from a supernatural source.”
Habits are Magic because the things you do every day move you forward to the destination of your choosing. Habits are Magic because by changing what you do every day, the way you think, the way you feel and the things you do, you can change your entire life. You can even change the cells in your body because your cells are constantly regenerating. If you choose to start eating a completely different diet, in a relatively short amount of time, your entire body could change.
Magic, as defined above, is “an extraordinary power of influence seemingly from a supernatural source.”. This seemingly supernatural source is You. You are the one influencing your life by the choices you make and the actions you take every day.
Did you think you had this much power over your own life? This is to empower you to be thinking about the choices you are making in your day. Inspiring you to think deeper about the impacts your choices have on your life. Exciting you about the possibilities you have to change your life, right now, to continue on to your most fantastical & exciting & nourishing destination.
Thoughts: Your thoughts and your imagination help to create your future. Did you know daydreaming is a practice that you do every day? When you are thinking about future events, either dreading them, getting excited about them, feeling curious or wondering about them, you are watering those thought seeds. Day-dreaming in a positive sense allows you to open doorways into new possibilities, seeing and exploring what you really want come to life, and to prepare yourself for such things. When you daydream about negative outcomes, you are informing yourself about how you need to prepare for the world around you. By choosing to think about what you want out of life, your goals, your dreams, your desires, you bring those things to life. You help to inform the world around you about what you want and you start to see the world as helping you to bring these dreams into being. By having the habit of daydreaming about your desires, you continually water the seeds of your dreams.
Emotions: Do you think you have choice over how you feel? Often times your thoughts inform your emotions. Next time you are feeling very happy, or very sad, stop and see if you are thinking about something that is invoking an emotion within you. Not only does daydreaming about positive outcomes water your dream seeds, but it also helps you to feel more positive emotions in your life. The etymology of emotions can be broken down into two pieces: ex & mouvre. In Latin, ex means “out of, from within” and mouvre “move, to set into motion”. From within, you move and set into motion. So your emotions are setting your thoughts into motion. You can think of thoughts as sparks of insights from your neural-network in your brain and your emotions and the energy that move them out into the world. What are you choosing to thing about and set into motion?
Actions: Your actions that you choose to take every day informs how your life will go. Small action steps towards your dreams on a daily or weekly basis. They need not be large actions, and in fact, small consistent actions have a greater overall impact on your daily life than that large leaps. The story of the tortoise and the hare illustrate this truth well. The tortoise may have been slow, but he was steady. Taking small and consistent steps towards his dreams, even if the step was resting so he could continue on, is what led him to winning the race. The hare, excited and all over the place, went from here to there and never even completed the race. The tortoise tells you that small steps, consistently, brings you to realize your goals. It’s your habits that bring you to your dreams.
So you see, it’s not so much this mysterious supernatural force that makes your dreams come true, but those things you do consistently and think about often, that makes your life what it is.
And magic (aka you!) can also be part of your habits. If you want to have more sparkle and wonder in your life, think about it. Do the things that bring you joy and wonderment. Do them more frequently. Think about them. Write stories in your mind about them. Make your dreams, by thinking, feeling and acting on them, part of your daily practice, part of your habits. For after not too long, you will begin to see your dreams coming to life in the world around you.
